01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Just a short stroll off Otakibashi-dori into a quiet residential pocket, Trattoria Piatto offers an intimate setting to settle in for a leisurely meal. The compact dining room features both table and counter seating, where guests are welcomed by the husband-and-wife owners with warm hospitality and authentic Italian cooking.
The blackboard and menus highlight seasonal bounty from land and sea across Japan. Dishes let the natural qualities of the ingredients lead, from carpaccio of wild venison loin from Tanba in Hyogo Prefecture—lightly seared and finished with extra virgin olive oil and Parmigiano—to squid ink risotto simmered with fresh cuttlefish ink from Tokushima Prefecture and seafood stock. Meat mains are equally compelling, featuring roasts of flavorful wild Tanba venison loin or wild boar loin alongside bistecca of Nagasaki Prefecture A5 Kuroge Wagyu beef.
Complementary Italian Wines and Classic Lunches
The thoughtfully curated wine list is designed to elevate the kitchen's cooking. Guests can order by the glass or bottle, choosing from approachable house pours to distinct regional labels—such as a Sardinian Vermentino with herbal aromatics and brisk acidity that flatters seafood, or Don Camillo, a full-bodied Abruzzo red showing generous fruit and refined oak.
Midday dining centers on structured lunch sets: a pasta set that includes a starter salad, salted butter baguette, a choice of pasta, and a drink, or a daily special lunch featuring a chef's choice main. As seating is limited, booking ahead is recommended for evening visits.
